One Year In The Making: bagakiRADIO is Back

Posted July 22nd @ 3:34 pm by Mr Bagaki

bagaki-radio-bagaki.com.jpgAfter almost a year offline due to licensing issues, bagakiRADIO is back online streaming live 24×7. You can check out our all new content. We have avoided licensing problems by partnering with local and regional musicians to promote their work and have their music reach new ears and fans. We are adding new musicians weekly and will be launching a new website dedicated to the further promotion of their music.

We are looking forward to providing an outlet for musicians to broadcast their music and reach a new audience. As the music industry continues to change from their domineering model of control to one in which the artist and musician are back in control, we are looking to propagate this change by bringing small artists to the masses.

We will be launching a dedicated radio station website in the upcoming months to showcase artists work and allow listeners to contact the artists, buy tickets for performances, and purchase their music.

If you know of a musician (or are a musician) that would like some free promotion and an audience to checkout your work, please contact us and let us know. We make no money off the broadcast of music and are here solely to promote small groups from around the world. We play all types of music and are eager to share your work with our audience. We are here to help the small guy, because “the recording industry” sure isn’t.

UPDATE 07-22-2006 1:35 PM CST

We are trying to resolve issues with our CDN on buffering and stream continuity. Until we can resolve this issue, we have been forced to limit the number of streams and are monitoring all traffic. We will keep you updated. This is what happens when you let projects sit too long.

The 500th Post

Posted June 16th @ 2:54 am by Mr Bagaki

I just over 11 months, we (the community of people who make this blog possible) have compiled 500 short and long articles and posts for your enjoyment, entertainment, and educational enlightenment. It is hard to think that the blog has been online for almost a year. It is also hard to believe that so many of you still read on a daily or semi-weekly basis. That I am proud of. Gurt has done a knock-up job keeping things going and in-line over the past 11 months and we hope he will continue into the second season.

I would like to thank everyone for making this happen. Not just the authors, but also our readers. Without you, this would all just be electronic words lost in a sea of technology.

Congratulations to all on 500 posts!!

Blog Updates - Massive Spam Attack

Posted May 19th @ 8:48 am by Gurt T. Luhrman

I am not sure what has happened, maybe a shift in the worlds magnetic field or something, but we have been getting hammered with spam. For a long time only a couple spam a week would pop up, and in the past few days we have seen over 65 spam comments. Some bot got a hold of the website and is now hammering us. If any of you need prescription drugs, let us know and we can forward you all the spam we are getting for these scams. Luckily we have an awesome spam filter that snags all of these, too bad Kigis always gets marked as spam. This mystery we cannot solve.

As you may or may not have noticed, all of the top images are now bagaki brand (TM) originals. We dusted off our camera and have been snapping away. We hope to continue to add more exciting pictures to the blog as this year progresses.

Great News For Those Viewing The Site On A Mobile Device

Posted April 9th @ 1:09 am by Gurt T. Luhrman

Would bagaki be bagaki without pushing the envelope in technology? The answer is hell no!! So, to meet the needs of our viewers we have a special treat for you. We have created, via effortless plug-in, a special site that is formatted for mobile devices. Just point you WAP enabled phone to:

http://blog.bagaki.com/wp-wap.php

on behalf of the entire bagaki.com staff, you’re welcome!
(it should be noted: if you click on the link above in a regular web browser, it will try to download the page. The link above is only for mobile phones and devices connected to the internet though a wireless provider. If you don’t know what any of this means, do not click on the link above. If you do, nothing will happen. Actually this is a lie, if you do click on it, we will get your credit card numbers and buy a lot of useless shit just to fuck with you a bit)

The Unification Initiative

Posted April 2nd @ 12:35 am by Mr Bagaki

The other day I posted a blurb about how bagaki is branding. What does this mean? It is our latest initiative to unify bagaki.com and the bagaki family of websites. From a technological standpoint, we are just not ready for growth. We have a half-dozen sites that do not work together, but should. Many of the pages on our sites have dated coding and were built piecemeal with no real theme or interface. At the time they accomplished their individual goals, but as we continue to grow, they no longer work together the way we think they should We need to bring all of our sites together to tell the whole story.

There are many technical advantages to re-writing parts of the site. Pages will load faster, updates will take minutes instead of days, and the user experience will be enriched. The web is evolving, which means new and fun things can be done with web pages that were not possible only a few years ago. As we strive to be a leader in design and function, we need to utilize and push forward with cutting edge technology, which is what bagaki is all about.

If you look back, we launched our internet radio station back in 2001, and even today, internet radio has yet to see its heyday (it is growing I might add). We are forging ahead with the launch of our internet based TV (IPTV) network this summer – bagaki.tv – and are leading the revolution of media as we know it.

It is important to not always limit yourself to the blog alone. While your participation and support for the blog is a vital part of bagaki, there is much more to see and do. Remember to browse around the site for improvements and additions. Tell your friends and family about the site, and have them check it out. We are continually working on new ways to involve our fan base to enrich their experience on the web and in physical life.

As we continue our unification efforts expect great things to come. With the launch of bagaki.tv looming over our heads, year six looks to be the best yet. Thank you for all of your support over the years, because six years ago I never thought bagaki would be this big. I can’t wait to see where things will be in another six. Best Wishes…

bagaki is branding

Posted March 28th @ 5:00 pm by Mr Bagaki

bagaki.com, bagaki, huxtibleWhat a better way to celebrate the coming of spring than with a quick update to bagaki.com. We have also updated our little “bookmark” icons for the entire bagaki network of sites. Please enjoy. bagaki.com | Winter 2005 | Fall 2005

Top Images

Posted March 26th @ 6:36 pm by Gurt T. Luhrman

I am excited to inform you that I have finally implemented the top image loader to randomly display a new image every time you visit the site. Please enjoy. I am working on loading a bunch of images for your viewing pleasures. It is actually a pretty powerful little tool, not really. It just loads a random image and allows me to choose which images are in the “pool” of images. Enjoy.

bagaki.tv website launched

Posted March 25th @ 10:52 pm by Mr Bagaki

I would like to first off thank all of you for your support over the past 5 years. As we encroach upon the 6 year anniversary of bagaki.com, it is my obligation to offer you something new and exciting. Well, here it is! We have launched bagaki.tv, bagaki’s very own media network. Ok, so it is just the website for the network, but it is an indicator of what it to come.

In the upcoming months we will be asking you, the loyal bagaki.com fan, to become involved with the testing and initial network offerings. Your contributions and suggestions will be seriously considered then pushed aside for our “better” ideas. But, your involvement shows your continued support. Without you there would be no bagaki.com or bagaki.tv, and that would leave the world with an unfillable void.

Regards,

make sure to refresh the site

Posted March 22nd @ 6:53 pm by Gurt T. Luhrman

i have been working on a new feature for the top images on the site. until that is fully functioning, make sure to refresh the site everyday to see the updated image. time time time, i need more time (oh, and some money would be nice, maybe a third arm and a second…. nose)

anyway, i have some cool ideas up my sleeve, so keep watching.

Thanks For The Feedback

Posted March 20th @ 12:00 am by Gurt T. Luhrman

A few loyal/royal members recently commented on the “show comments” feature. It seems to be getting positive reviews, readers like the ability to access the comments from the front page. Thanks for the feedback and enjoy your experience, the bagaki experience.

All Kinds of Blog Goodies

Posted March 11th @ 4:37 pm by Gurt T. Luhrman

To celebrate Saturday, I have added a bunch of new things to the site for everyone to enjoy. Here is the rundown…

1) On the front page, you can now view the comments “live” by clicking on the show comments link at the bottom of the post. This will ONLY appear if there are comments for the post.

2) I have upgraded the blogging software, there is no noticeable difference for you, but things are now more secure. I have also upgraded the audio software that is used for audioblogs. This was a minor update that should improve loading times and functionality.

3) I tried “fixing” the poll software so visitors can vote as much as they want, but I just couldn’t get that to work. I did add the Poll Archives though.

4) I also added a dedicated Blog Archive page with all of the posts.

Giving Credit To Those Deserving

Posted January 28th @ 2:36 pm by Gurt T. Luhrman

Now when one of our contributors makes a post, he/she/it is now credited for their post. At the top of the post next to the date I have added a line with the author’s name. Proper credit will now be assigned, and all bashing can now be targeted at the appropriate entity. Let the games begin

Audio Blog Software Update

Posted January 28th @ 10:19 am by Gurt T. Luhrman

I have upgraded to a new player for the audioblog. The player adds the ability to scroll through the audio clip and < < >>. I have also updated all of the previous audioblog posts to now use this new player. We hope this will make your audioblog experience even sweeter. As always, any comments or suggestions are always welcome as we continue to improve your “work” experience.

The Polls are BACK

Posted January 6th @ 8:25 pm by Gurt T. Luhrman

We have upgraded our polling software for your blogging needs. They only allow one response per IP address, so some of the fun is gone. BUT, there is a new feature that allows viewers to add their own response. This should make up for the limit in votes per user. Let’s see how this works

EDIT: It has nothing to do with the IP address, it has to do with cookies. I bet if you flush your cookies, you will be able to vote more than once.
