Over a year later I have finally taken the time to post all of the birthday cards mailed to founding members of bagaki.com for the 5th birthday bash. If you never received your card, don’t fret it, apparently a few didn’t. But now you can see what you (were supposed to) and everyone else got.

IE Users Test Post

Posted November 17th @ 2:17 pm by Mr Bagaki

202304_internet_icons.jpgI want all of you IE users to take a look-see and let me know if things are messed up again after this post. We are in the process of nailing down the cause of the missing right columns and as of right now believe it to be something with our CSS. Drop us a line and let us know.

It would be helpful if you let us know what version of Internet Explorer you are using so we can see how this is related to that application. Right now we do not know if this is a web standards issue or a rendering issue. From out tests, this post should appear in IE 6 with all three columns (but with errors on the page).

One thing I did just notice is when you vote in the poll using IE 6, the results are displayed but they are moved considerably down the page. Please let us know of any issues you may be having.

Thanks

UPDATES COMPLETE

Posted November 10th @ 7:32 pm by Mr Bagaki

So here is the final scoop. I gave Gurt a good ol’ pistol whipping and that seemed to fix everything in his life, including this blog. He has completed the updates for ALL of the software, including the features he said he wasn’t going to update (the theme for starters).

The biggest highlight for everyone is that the polls are now FIXED!!! You are now allowed to vote as many times as you like and add as many answers as you like. We have removed all IP logging features and set poll cookies to expire immediately. If you are not able to vote more than once, you will need to flush out any OLD cookies that were installed prior to our upgrades. This is done in your browsers settings window.

We had promised a new feature that would allow ANYONE to edit their comments. Unfortunately the code we are working with has what seems to be a fatal flaw in it, ANYONE can edit EVERYONE’S comments. This just simply won’t work. We are still working on this feature and will inform you of our progress.

Gurt is now finishing up a few style changes, but nothing major. Everything should be working correctly now. If you experience any problems or errors, please let us know.

Best wishes and a Happy Weekend

Design Experiment

Posted November 6th @ 2:46 am by Mr Bagaki

I would like to conduct a creative experiment involving those participating interactively with this site and the future design of the entire bagaki.com regime of websites. I would like to encourage you to submit ideas or concepts for the new website design. (Example: color schemes, themes, submitted: photos, sounds, videos, copy or written text, anything you can imagine)

The experiment is to take everything submitted and build or create a website around these contributions. I would like to put a one week window on submissions to keep this idea flowing. Any and all submissions are appreciated and will be incorporated into the final design. Please (and I hate that I have to put this disclaimer here) keep it respectable. I know some of you enjoy rather “odd” things, this is a family website.

Please keep in mind the following websites when participating in this experiment:

bagaki.com
blog.bagaki.com
thebagakiexperience.com
bagaki.tv
bagaki-minsitries.org

BLOG SOFTWARE UPDATES IMMINENT

Posted November 1st @ 1:15 am by Mr Bagaki

There have been several software upgrades and updates to the “behind the scenes” software that drives this site since we launched version 2 point O. Since updating or upgrading the site ALWAYS results in problems, I have been putting off the update of many of the applications you use on a daily basis. Well, the time is drawing near for major upgrades to most of the core applications (word press being the major one) and some of the “plug-in” applications we use.

I don’t know for sure when this may happen, but I am going to try to do this during off-peak hours. I will keep you informed when the updates will occur so if things are not working properly, you will know why. Part of the reason things have gone wrong in the past has to do with Gurt being at a remote location instead of at the office when he does the updates. He is always screwing things up because “he likes to travel”. I don’t pay him enough for that, so I have no idea how he affords that. I don’t ask questions, I just assume he had a “bad night” when he comes in with bags under his eyes, ripped and bloodied clothes, the smell of liquor oozing from his pours, and handcuffs attached to what resembles the back of a chair on his wrist. He does his job, I give him his space. More employers need to be like me… and I think to myself, what a wonderful world.

We’re On Fire, Thank You

Posted October 31st @ 1:31 am by Mr Bagaki

I was just looking at the numbers for October and things are good, very good. We are up 29% over last month and had 25% more readers than our previous best month. WOW. We have effectively grown readership over 140% since the beginning of the year, and with no actual effort. Not only are unique readers up, daily visits are up too! I contribute this to the increased number of daily posts. More posts = more traffic, any way you cut it. I am predicting even greater growth after the final numbers are here at the beginning of November.

I want to send my monthly thank you to all of our readers and contributors for making this thing happen. October has been a successful month, what a better way to celebrate six years than with gobs of new readers.

Gurt Gets Rejected, Michael J Fox Is Faking Parkinson’s, and Punctuation Is Dead!

Posted October 26th @ 11:47 am by Mr Bagaki

591687_rejected.jpgLate last night after many drinks, Gurt was spotted at the local “outdoor” themed sports bar trying to hit on a seven foot stuffed bear. The bear, also known as “Happy” by the waiting staff, looked enraged and was showing his flesh ripping teeth in defense to Gurt’s informal solicitation for “a night you won’t remember”. Following dating advice from his long time friend and cohort Reginald Highwater, Gurt Luhrman appeared to be “in the zone” whiles making his moves on his newly introduced friend.

Apparently Gurt was being a little too friendly to the bear as someone phoned the local authorities. Following the twenty minute chat with Officer Jones, Gurt realized that by now the bar had closed… and that meant Happy was not coming home with him. A frustrated Luhrman kicked and screamed as the officers arrested him for a evening in detox.

Apparently Rush Limbaugh is claiming that Mr Fox is “faking the extent of his condition” in ads supporting stem cell research. I cannot even comment on this. READ MORE >>>

STEM cell research is back on the political agenda in the lead-up to the US mid-term elections after influential right-wing commentator Rush Limbaugh accused actor Michael J.Fox of faking the severity of his Parkinson’s disease in a campaign television commercial.

“He is exaggerating the effects of the disease,” Limbaugh, whose views make Sydney shock jock Alan Jones seem moderate, told his legion of listeners.

“He’s moving all around and shaking and it’s purely an act … This is really shameless of Michael J.Fox. Either he didn’t take his medication or he’s acting.”

504814_mobile_phone_4.jpgPunctuation Is Dying!

Punctuation, online at least, is dying. It’s so badly misused that it’s a rare occasion when I can catch up on my feeds without flinching at some of the horrendous punctuation. The worst part of it all is that nobody seems to notice this gradual decline; or care. I fear it may be the latter.

With all the l33t speak and text messages people are throwing around, not only is punctuation being killed, but so are actual words. its all shrt hnd now, esp with txt msging. who wants to type full sentences or words anymore, especially with a phone. I’m just going to sit back and wait for chips to be implanted in my head that will communicate my thoughts to others on my network. I just hope I have a good service provider.

Database Server Hiccup

Posted October 18th @ 12:48 pm by Mr Bagaki

We are still trying to determine the cause of our database server going down this morning. I have Gurt on the horn with our datacenter to see what happened. I love whipping that boy, it makes him stronger. I figure it is in his best interest for me to work him hard. If he can handle me, he can handle anyone.

My deepest apologies for those dedicated readers unable to view the site. The issue as of now is resolved and hopefully will stay resolved.

Aaaah, Back To The Good Old Blog

Posted October 16th @ 12:00 am by Mr Bagaki

02189163.jpgToo much video for everyone? Well at least I think so. It is kind of nice to be back to typing more in-depth articles to waste your time rather than just rotting your brain with video clips. So here is the scoop. Franklin was kind enough today to allow myself to put in a few hours on the Colby Prairie and earn some muscle pain the good old fashion way… manual labor. It is always nice to get some fresh air, exercise, and know it is for a good cause. Plus dinner was excellent as always, Debbie Style.

So what to discuss. Politics? Nah, that is done a bazillion times on a bazillion sites and every other major media outlet known to man. Sports? I think ESPN does that better than I could. Ah yes, video games. Sure there are almost a bazillion sites and outlets for video game goodness, but do they have a link to THIS BADASS SITE!!!!! Stop over and check out GOBS of old Apple computer games PLAYABLE online through a web browser, no external emulators required! No day is complete without burying a few of your friends from dysentery or wiping out the countries buffalo population in OREGON TRAIL. (It should be noted that to play these games online you will need Internet Explorer, which shouldn’t be a problem for most computer uses, but just to let you know either way for those alternative browser users.)

Now wasn’t that fun. Welcome back to the second chapter of this post. After a few hours wasted at work today with Apple II games (you can thank me later), why not nestle back into your desk and browse the new for a few more minutes until your morning break. What better way to waste the bosses money than to browse over to this site and check out this 2WD bicycle.

Lets round out this nice post with a Halloween treat. How about dressing your child or loved one up at a toilet this year for Halloween. Now what child in their right mind would want to be a toilet? What parent would actually buy this for their child, or even worse, suggest it as a costume. “What would you like to be this year for Halloween Tommy?” “I want to be a public toilet.

11 Minus 1 And Counting

Posted October 1st @ 2:32 pm by Mr Bagaki

248743_bus_stop_number_11.jpgThe time has come, another year has passed. We are now down to the final 10 days preceding the 6th birthday of bagaki.com. It is my pleasure to initiate the countdown this year and in doing so I will be introducing this years cast of characters to the blog and readers.

For those of you new to this, October 10th is the birthday of bagaki.com. Every year we have a 10 day countdown to the 10th. We like to celebrate by designing a special “birthday” version of the site. (Check the archives for previous versions) This year, like all others will be no different. I have already commissioned the 6th annual birthday site, which should leave everyone happy inside.

So everyday stop by bagaki.com and watch as we count down to 6 years online.

Have a great Sunday afternoon.

Best Regards,

Mr Bagaki
