The Marketer in Me

Posted June 30th @ 2:41 am by Gurt T. Luhrman

carvertising.jpgCheck out this ad on the left by clicking on it. I get a kick out of the airbag bit, I could care less about the zipper part. Seems fitting. Drive a Porsche and American women flock to you, tells a lot about the culture doesn’t it.

Here is a collection of pretty cool ads. Maybe you don’t think any ads are cool, and on some level I can agree. In a consumer culture era where ads are so pervasive that we cannot escape them, why would I draw attention to more ads? Well, some of these are pretty cool and if I would have thought of them, I could be wealthier than I am today. Heck, I could even quit this bagaki.com gig. So without further adieu, here are the ads. One I find to be pretty ingenious is the Papa Johns ad, such a simple idea, why the heck didn’t I come up with it.

Yonder @ The Big Top

Posted June 30th @ 2:33 am by Gurt T. Luhrman

I will be participating in the Yonder Mountain String Band concert later tonight at the Big Top. For those who enjoy bluegrass and have yet to hear Yonder, they are worth checking out. These guys rock, or the bluegrass equivalent of rock. They know what they are doing, resulting in some sweet sounds for your ears. There is nothing like some happy bluegrass to usher in the 4th of July weekend. Things are gonna change, I can feel it. This is the beginning of summer, bagaki style. On a side note, if you have never been to or hear of the Big Top, it is a pretty cool venue. Very cozy, not a bad seat in the house. A very personal experience, none of this 10,000 attendee garbage. A few hundred excited fans under a big tent = a night to remember.

Life begins today, the era of bagaki is upon us. Good day.

Throw Rocks At Boys

Posted June 29th @ 2:32 pm by Gurt T. Luhrman

This is for all of our female readers our there. Throw Rocks At Boys is a fun waste of 10 minutes. Even if you are not a girl, this is quite amusing. Test your skills and become the rock master. Just as an enticement to play, it is fun to hit the boys in the mouth with the rock. Good for a laugh.

Is It Illegal To Describe The Sporting Event You’re Watching?

Posted June 29th @ 12:03 pm by Gurt T. Luhrman

d7_1.JPGHere is some good news that is a day old. What happens when MLB tells you that you cannot “describe” the event you paid (or didn’t pay) to see? The world ends because people won’t fight big business, that is what happens. There is an article covering this if you are so inclined to read a bit deeper into the latest upcoming battle in the digital age.

I hope that someone with a brain will stop this idea from taking off. I also hope that if it became illegal to describe a sporting even, that people would stand up against the machine, boycott all sports and shut down MLB. Boy, am I a dreamer. People, we have the power, its called how and where you spend your money. These beasts live on money, all we have to do is stop feeding them.

Increasing You Cars Resale Value - With Dirt

dust.jpg
This is pretty hard to believe at first. One sees the image but is unable to comprehend that this is actually just dust on the rear window. Check out the slide show and see some of this mans other work, simply amazing. He uses typical and a-typical artist tools to generate his “dustings”. What I wonder is if this guy just races around dirt roads all day to make his canvas of if he lives on a really long dirt road. A pretty cool idea, I give him that.

FRONTLINE: home | PBS

Posted June 27th @ 12:05 am by Gurt T. Luhrman

h_reallogo.gifFor those of you not familiar with Frontline, I urge you to take a stop by their site and look things over. This is in my opinion some of the better journalism out there today. With all of the infotainment on the major networks and constant battle for viewership, Frontline give you a fresh perspective to in-depth investigative journalism. Not just the daily “highlights” or shock value stories to keep your attention, these in-depth features shed new light into many of todays issues.

You can access much of their archives online and watch them for free at your discretion. My only gripe is that some of them are encoded in realmedia, so you will need realplayer to watch some of them. Otherwise you get the choice of realmedia or windows media. If you have some free time, it is always worth watching one of them. A few personal favorites include:

Waco: The Inside Story
Merchants of Cool
The Wall Street Fix

You get to see how the FBI failed in the Waco stand-off, how MTV and Corporate America create bands like Limp Bizkit, and how fraudulent the suits on Wall Street are. Citibank is an evil empire, but so are too many other corporations.

Cryogenics To The Future (previously titled Carcass On Ice)

Posted June 26th @ 5:37 pm by Gurt T. Luhrman

1500-backside2-full.jpgThere is new research that claims cryopreservation does not harm the cells or tissue on the human body. This has always intrigued me, the freezing of people in a tube with the hope of being reanimated in the future. I am not so sure I would want to brought back to life. One would think you would want to be frozen in your late 50’s or 60’s to make it worth your wild. Otherwise they bring you back to the old, feeble person you were when you died, colostomy bag and all.

The latest research on water — still one of the least understood of all liquids despite a century of intensive study — seems to support the possibility that cells, tissues and even the entire human body could be cryopreserved without formation of damaging ice crystals, according to University of Helsinki researcher Anatoli Bogdan, Ph.D.

If you are in the market for cryogenic hardware, Ability seems to be the place to get the goods.

Ability Engineering Technology has a line of economical cryogenic pumps which are available either as a sump pump configuration or as a cold box mount. The pumps are positive displacement vane pumps using graphite composite vanes and bearings. Vanes are spring loaded to insure maximum volumetric flow for a given displacement and allows for operation of the pump at sub-atmospheric conditions for either gas or liquid. Each pump is custom designed for your system and application.

What I Hate The Most About A Pickle

Posted June 26th @ 9:52 am by Gurt T. Luhrman

They wanted to see how “bad” her phobia was, so they punish her by sending her to the freakin pickle factory. Ha-ha. Good ol’ Maury. Quality American television, improving people lives since Phil Donahue. This is what bagaki.tv needs, some wacked out crazies to act stupid on a camera. I will make you famous. Send you story to…

Wasted Away Again In Daiquiriaville

Posted June 25th @ 9:53 pm by Gurt T. Luhrman

v8blender.jpgWith the RIAA and all the suits in the music business suing everyone for everything, I thought I should change the words a bit from the classic Jimmy Buffet song to avoid legal repercussions.

You want something blended, this is your tool. Although from the images, it looks more like pizazz than a wholly operating V8 that turns the blades in a blender. Either way, guaranteed to be a hit at any BBQ, and to burn at least 4 of the drunks at your party. You better have good insurance, just in case.

Super Borehole

Posted June 25th @ 9:35 pm by Gurt T. Luhrman

neutrinolab.jpgYou ask yourself, “what the heck is a super borehole?” Well, it is a big hole that was bored into the earth in the attempt to dig to the earth’s upper crust. Well that project failed. But is does bring to mind recent talks with friends about Neutrinos. I now know two people that have worked first hand in the analysis of neutrinos. I want to know what these things are all about. One guy I know spend a week in Japan watching them being sent through water and measuring them with these fancy photo sensors. The other guy is in a mine 2 miles into the earth “catching” them is you will. They are being shot through the ground from 500 miles away.

I want to know why there isn’t more being said about these tiny thingies. Have any of you heard of them? What is your take on the situation?

Jesus-aids

11657.jpgJesus-aids, they would call them band-aids but that name is already taken. Bring a little spirituality into your life with the latest and greatest adhesive bandages. These are guaranteed to heal wounds faster and turn your water into wine. Now if only I could figure out a way to turn my waste into gold.

On a side note, check out the “FREE TOY INSIDE” promo. Why would you need to put a toy inside a box of Jesus bandages? Isn’t Jesus enough of an incentive?

The Creepy Bill Gates

I’m not sure where I ran into this photo, but check it out. It is a wax figure of Bill Gates III of Microsoft fame. For those of you who have ever seen a photo of Billy boy will know he doesn’t quite look like that. Either way, check out the guy with Gates, I wonder if he is posing like that or if he is really that excited.
