Marketing The Male

norelco_bodygroom_adI stumbled across this website the other night and was impressed at it’s job at attracting the attention of the 18-24 yr old male cohort. Phillips/Norelco have implemented a new website for their Bodygroom shaving system, and it seems to be hitting its mark. I think this piece of marketing is exactly what they need to use to communicate to 18-24 yr old males.

That being said, I’ve got one on the way! Seriously, I just hope women don’t want us to start shaving our legs and armpits. Without our hair, we are nothing. I know I’m not going to give it up. Whats next, makeup for men? I sure hope so, I have been betting on it since 1998. I know a guy that can get you beard makeup, let me know and I can put you in touch.

Private: Marketing The Male

norelco bodygroom adFor those of you with “sensitive” grooming needs this is your product. I’m going to get one, thats for sure. Anyway, talk about good marketing. This Phillips/Norelco Bodygroom ad is hitting its mark.

You really need sound for this one, and it could offend some

On top of that, it is also turning men into women - or at least their grooming habits. This is great for my “mens makeup” line I have been talking about since 1998. I’m in the money, I’m in the money…. men are the next target, just like women. Look at the perfumes (i mean “body sprays”), body washes, and other grooming products taking over the shelves at your local store. Its not just for women anymore.

This is just part of it, look at how magazines like FHM and Maxim push fashion and other “appearance” ideals into the minds of male consumers. So now guys are going to start worrying they are too fat or are not attractive. Maybe not to the level that women have it, but its coming.

UPDATE: You have to play with the site features for more fun. Make sure you go to the menu and “take it for a test drive”. The music video is a bit much, but I love the “optical inch” sales pitch. Phillips is getting their moneys worth with this ad. I can only imagine how many takes some of the scenes took. I just don’t like the idea of shaving my legs, so for all mens sake women, please don’t demand that we shave our legs.

i tell you, i will have to buy a TV just so i can play the new Wii. I like the name revolution better, I dont like the way i sound when i say Wii. “hey guys, come on over for some soda and chips, we can play my Wii” Who cares, Nintendo is 5 years ahead of all the other systems. To me its all about gameplay - not the flashy graphics or shoot em’ up games. Thank you Nintendo - and i’ll take you anytime at duck hunt. danny used to have hoagans alley.
